About us
Our way of thinking... We believe that though the internet is part of our lives, many of us prefer to “handle” and compare products before we buy, to browse in a relaxed environment and gain knowledgeable advice (if you want it). With this in mind we hold a large range of stock and are always happy to “get things out of the packets and have a play”, if we still don’t have what is required we are happy to special order. At Essie’s Equine we aim to provide a friendly retail environment where products can be “touched, felt and tried on”. Where all staff are experienced horse owners who are well trained and able to offer advice on almost any area of equitation and horse care. We provide a great range of good value, quality products, at realistic prices and provide everything for the rider and horse owner. We are always happy to hear about our customers horses and enjoy nothing better than a chat over a cup of coffee… so please feel free to pop in
About Essie I have owned horses for over 25 years. As a child I was member of Stevenstone and Torrington Farmers Pony Club and competed BSJA, from there I moved to Holsworthy and District Riding Club and Eventing. I enjoyed my time in Pony Club and completed my exams up to ‘H’ level, sadly university got in the way before she completed my ‘A’ test. I have represented the riding club in all disciplines (sometimes they will take anyone!) and have been lucky enough to attend National Championships in Horse Trails, Dressage, Show Jumping and Equitation. I have also spent a season riding Western trained horses in New Zealand and had a dabble with Side Saddle.
My horses Farthings Phoebe. AKA Phoebe, 14.2hh, Part breed Appaloosa, Chestnut Snowflake, Mare born August 2000. Diminutive in stature but not in soul! She may only be small but she thinks she is 19hh, and as she is a “red headed lady” she certainly has the attitude to match. Purchased at 18 months in very poor condition but with a healthy distrust of people it has been a long road to where she is now. A lot of time and patience later, she has matured in to a real star. Now competing in Affiliated Eventing at Pre-Novice she is a true all rounder who likes to keep you on your toes.
Mighty News. AKA Bugsy, 16.1hh, 7/8 TB x 1/8 Connemara, Bay with white blaze and 3 small socks, Gelding born May 2004. A 7/8th thoroughbred, you would think I should now better!! Bought in December 2008 the long term plan is to event. I have enjoyed a fun winter attending Riding Club training at Talltrees & I am looking forward to the 2010 season starting!! (at least I think I am).
